Campsite near Vizille
Just 50 minutes from Camping Le Champ Long, Vizille is a jewel of history and greenery. It’s here that the heart of the French Revolution beats, in a sumptuous setting of château, French gardens and mountains in the background. An ideal cultural and nature outing for families, the curious and lovers of beautiful places.
The Château de Vizille and its unique museum
The Domaine de Vizille is one of the most beautiful sites in Isère. Its 17th-century château is home to the Musée de la Révolution française, the only one of its kind in France. Paintings, sculptures, period objects… the visit is fascinating and well thought-out, even for children.
The estate’s park is a haven of peace, classified as a “remarkable garden”, where you can stroll between lakes, copses, lawns and semi-liberty animals (peacocks, swans, deer…). In summer, it’s also a venue for cultural events and family picnics.
A town at the gateway to the Vercors
Vizille is also the southern gateway to the Vercors massif. Numerous hiking trails start in the vicinity of the estate, accessible to families and experienced walkers alike. The town itself is a pleasant place to stroll, with its terraces, market and lively mountain village atmosphere.
In summer, don’t miss the cultural events organized in the château grounds: concerts, shows, open-air cinema…
